Are your Kids Getting Enough Water?
Are your kids getting enough water? Are you?
Many kids live in a constant state of mild dehydration simply not drinking enough each day. And as summer heats up, staying hydrated becomes even more important for their energy, focus, and overall safety.
The challenge? Most kids reach for juice, sports drinks, or soda before water. That’s where a little creativity can help:
Make it easy. Keep water within reach—a simple dispenser and cups they can use on their own.
Add a little fun. Freeze fruit like berries, mango, or pineapple and drop them in water.
Think high-water foods. Stock up on watermelon, grapes, cucumbers, strawberries, and tomatoes.
Upgrade the ice. Freeze fruit in water to create fun, flavorful ice cubes.
Give them ownership. A special water bottle or cup can go a long way.
Use simple rewards. A sticker chart for each glass can motivate younger kids.
Try healthier treats. Make popsicles with diluted juice and fruit.
Serve water regularly. Make it the go-to at meals.
Model it. Your habits matter—let them see you drinking water often.
How much is enough? Teens need about 8–11 cups a day (similar to adults). Children around 5-7 cups per day. Toddlers need around 1–4 cups.
