Take Time Off - You Deserve it!
We all know how good it feels to step away from work for a bit. Time off helps us relax, reset, and come back with a clearer mind and a better attitude.
Our bodies crave that same kind of break from our workouts too—and yes, rest days absolutely count as part of the plan.
Just like you schedule your workouts, you need to schedule your rest. Here’s why those days matter so much:
Rest prevents overuse injuries. When we push too hard without giving our bodies a chance to recover, stress-related injuries happen. Rest is part of training smart.
Muscles grow when you rest. Intense workouts create tiny tears in your muscle fibers. Your rest days are when those fibers rebuild and strengthen. That’s also why rotating muscle groups works so well.
Your performance improves. A weekly rest day doesn’t set you back—your body actually comes back stronger, more energized, and ready to go.
You protect your mental edge. Burnout is real, and mental fatigue can slow you down just as much as physical fatigue. Honestly, you may start to look forward to your rest days just as much as your workout days.
So, give yourself permission—no, give yourself a plan—to take a rest day every week. Use it to do something you love. Go for a gentle walk, spend time with family, linger over a good book, or go catch a movie. Move your body in a way that feels good, or simply let yourself be still.
Your body—and your mind—will thank you for it.
