Have Patience

Gardening takes patience.

It takes nurturing, care, and time. You plant the seed, water, fertilize and wait…and wait…and wait. It’s exciting when the seedlings break through the soil but it seems like they grow so slowly. Yet you still water, weed, and fertilize knowing it’s what it takes for growth. And you wait. But then suddenly one morning you walk out to the garden, and the flowers are blooming or the beans are ready to pick. AND it was sooo worth the wait.

The same is true with our health and fitness. It takes patience. It takes nurturing, care, and time. You commit to your health, you move more, make better food choices, and work on creating healthier habits. Initially you feel energized and excited. Just like seeing the seedlings pop through the ground, you feel hopeful.

But just like gardening, you can’t stop there. You need to keep doing the “things”. And you need to wait. Your progress might feel slow or non-existent just like the garden. But if you keep on course, one day you’ll look in the mirror or see yourself in a picture and see you have “blossomed” into that healthier person you set out to be in the beginning.

Patience my friend. It will happen.
