Mindfulness. Do you Practice it?

The more I learn about taking even a couple minutes a day to live in the moment and breathe, the more convinced I am that it is a practice I need to incorporate in my day.

It is easier than it sounds. There are many simple times we could practice mindfulness without having to "sit" still and mediate. For example:

  • Take a moment during your day to breathe.  Breathe into your belly for a count of 4. Hold for 2. Breathe out for 6. Repeat 4 times.

  • In the shower - instead of thinking of everything on your to-do list,  just focus on the feel of the warm water, the scent of your soap or shampoo and breathing.

  • While driving to work. Instead of listening to the radio. Drive in silence and just "be"

  • While walking to and from your car, pay attention to the sounds, the sights, the smells.

  • Taking a minute to watch the water, listen to the birds, or smell the rain.

In other words, take some time to be present.
